A little about me

Hi! I am a molecular biologist with a passion for art and T shirt designs. I also enjoy natural science illustration and children’s book illustration. I will try to add new designs to my portfolio regularly: https://curiositeesdesigns.com/portfolio/.

Watercolor, acrylic paint and colored pencil are some of my favorites for creating art, but lately I have spent a fair amount of time creating digital artwork. Photoshop has been a bit of a learning curve for me, but it’s really exciting seeing what can be created this way and learning the amazing number of features that both Photoshop and Illustrator have.

Being a scientist by day and moonlighting as an artist and T shirt designer in my free time definitely keeps me busy, but I also enjoy reading and a range of other hobbies, including miniatures, but that’s a topic for a different blog.

Cooking and gardening are also passions for me. I especially love making Mexican, Italian, and Indian food, but I don’t think I’ve ever met a cuisine that I don’t like! I also enjoy designing and creating colorful garden beds that attract many different insects and birds, as well as the occasional opossum or raccoon.

My home is Seattle, Washington in the beautiful Pacific Northwest where I live with a variety of rescue animals in what I affectionately refer to as “The Zoo.” Living in a region with such a diversity of people, animals, and natural settings including the Puget sound, forests, and mountains is definitely an awesome inspiration for any artist.

I graduated from Oregon State University with a B.S. in Biology and a Ph.D. in Genetics, and I completed the Natural Science Illustration certificate program at the University of Washington in 2016.
